Story:
"Since I was a kid, I’ve daydreamed about life as a Viking—rowing through salt spray, journeying to distant lands with a fearless crew. The sea-faring people of Scandinavia have a heritage of exploration that once stretched as far as the Middle East. Today, their stories are fuel for my drive to explore. Well, the closest I’ve come to manifesting those dreams was my first summer working as an apprentice guide in Alaska. My time was split between training in the mountains as a climbing guide and sea kayaking through fjords. This shot was taken on the third afternoon of my initial kayak guide training with an inspiring fearless crew, that would be my coworkers for the summer. After a grueling 7-hour paddle against headwinds and rain—what would’ve been two hours in fair weather—we finally made landfall. As we set up camp, the clouds lifted, and the kayaks and dry bags glistened on the intertidal zone."
